What’s on in the centre
The Strand Centre runs its own activities and is open to other community groups to use. Rooms of various sizes can be hired at reasonable cost. These include the large auditorium (the main church building) where the Inspire Cafe meets, and which is also ideal for art exhibitions, flower shows and concerts. Groups using this space include the weekly Slimming World, the Toddler Group, Bingo, Karate and frequent Craft Sales.
We pride ourselves on being open, often when others are not.

Toddler Group
A vibrant group where mums and little ones come together for laughter, learning, and lasting connections. Join us for enriching activities, supportive conversations, and cherished moments. Let’s nurture our community from a young age so they have the skills to thrive.
Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed is for like-minded people men to chat and share while they make and repair items, share knowledge and have fun often make new friends. In this way they have helped to rebuild communities after COVID isolation.
At the opening of the Men’s Shed it was said that during Covid, as a nation ”We were at war!” The leader of our Men’s Shed explained that as a result of Covid many men had mental difficulties because they had been isolated from their friends and had little chance of sharing their concerns. The Men’s Shed movement was set up to provide an opportunity for men to get together and be creative, making items which could be sold. But the primary purpose is to enable them to talk to one another and share their concerns. Our Men’s Shed is one of the smallest with only four people in it at a time, but because of the rotation basis a considerable number of men now attend. It is currently open three days a week we hope it will be open all week if further volunteers to supervise it come forward.
Bingo
Get ready for a thrilling afternoon of fun and excitement at our Community Bingo! Join us for laughter, camaraderie, and fantastic prizes. The best part? All contributions go towards supporting our centre.
