WELCOME TO the Inspire Café
A cherished community venture managed by the Strand Community Trust.
Aside from our talented Chef, Paul Lentle, our café is operated entirely by volunteers, who take immense pride in offering healthy, homemade food, Fair Trade tea and coffee, and freshly baked cakes, all at affordable prices within a warm, inclusive and welcoming environment.
The café is a proud supporter of the Suspended Coffee programme, allowing patrons to contribute to a fund that provides free hot drinks to those facing financial difficulties.
Furthermore, the Inspire Café:
- Provides wholesome meals and hot drinks for the homeless and residents in financial need.
- Offers a ‘Meals at Home’ service which ensures that local individuals who are unable to leave their homes receive the nourishment they need.
- Manages a food bank, which distributes weekly hampers, valued at £45 each. *This important service is made possible through the generosity of our community and the support of the Exeter Food Depot.

How we help
Each year up to 90 people living on their own are invited to a Christmas Day lunch and Santa’s visit – he always has gifts for everyone. In addition bags of goodies will be provided for families where we know children are not likely to get much at Christmas.
During COVID the tradition was fulfilled by delivering to everyone who otherwise would have come to a meal in the Centre. Open House from Boxing Day to New Year’s Day for those on their own who may be feeling flat in this period. It includes breakfast and lunch which is free to help parents who do not have the money post Christmas to provide a hot meal for their children and give them something to do rather than feel fractious at home. Activities are based on our experience of Family Time.
